Now now... don't think I am writing a novel Modern Inheritance as a "kickback" to Kiran Desai's INheritance of the Lost. Just sharing you a glimpse of what I see and experienced at the Ubud Writers Readers Festival this year. Apart from being an "un-selfish" volunteers (to a huge committee team that some of them hardly know each other), I must say I regretted the opportunity to speak and grab a deep-discussions with the writers from around the world in Ubud last few days. I only have time to finally (greet) meet and or chat with some of them, such as Dorothea Rosa Herliany, Ahmad Tohari, Abe Soarez (from East Timor), Bang Wira from Aceh, Angelo Suarez from Phillipine (a "f***"nn cool young rising poet) and Kiran Desai (the highlight guest star of the event). I am very sad to say that the tight volunteer work have swept away some of the finest opportunity to learn more and seat down to grab the "fruits" of current modern writers "tutoring" or workshops, that could increase my own writing skills.

Although, I am happy to meet new friends, writers, volunteers and also the people in Bali (which some of them had hardly noticed the Indonesian participants as a guest - deserving similar attention as the bule). O well, I can't complain...

gimana caranya ya Mbak kalo pengen jadi volunteer buat tahun besok?
olinmonteiro wrote on Oct 1, '07
daftar aja don. Gitu lohhh
